The best student paper award was given to Gregory Barlow, from the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Machines, North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

As a prize, Gregory Barlow was presented with two books:
The Design of Innovation: Lessons From and For Competent Genetic Algorithms
by David E. Goldberg
and
Genetic Programming IV: Routine Human-Competitive Machine Intelligence
by John R. Koza, et al.

The best presentation award was given to Efren Mezura-Montes, from the Evolutionary Computation Group at CINVESTAV-IPN, San Pedro Zacatenco, Mexico.
